Privacy in plain language

Where is my financial overview stored?

The short answer: in the browser you are using, not in an HK FinBox account. This protects your privacy, but it also means you are responsible for keeping a backup.

Stored in this browser

The overview is kept in the website data belonging to hkfinbox.com in the browser you are using.

No HK FinBox cloud copy

We do not receive or keep the entries. There is no account and no automatic online backup.

Not shared across devices

Data entered on your phone will not appear automatically on your computer or in another browser.

Private browsing is temporary

Private or incognito windows normally remove their website data when the private session ends.

When could the data disappear?

  • You clear cookies, site data or all browsing data for hkfinbox.com.
  • The browser or a privacy-cleaning app removes website data automatically.
  • You use a private or incognito window and then close it.
  • You uninstall the browser, reset the device or change to another device.
  • A workplace or managed device applies a policy that regularly clears website data.

A useful distinction: clearing cached images and files alone may not delete the overview. Clearing cookies or site data is the setting most likely to remove it.

How to keep a copy safely

  1. 1. Open My Financial Overview and choose “Export backup”.
  2. 2. Keep the JSON file somewhere you control, such as an encrypted drive or personal cloud folder.
  3. 3. Use “Import backup” on the overview page when you need to restore it.

The backup contains the financial figures you entered. Treat it as private financial information and do not upload it to a public drive or send it casually.

Can HK FinBox recover it for me?

No. Because the entries are never stored on our server, we have no copy to search or restore. This is the privacy trade-off of browser-only storage.
