Privacy policy
Effective and last updated: 26 July 2026. This policy explains data processing that may occur when you use HK FinBox.
Scope
This policy applies to hkfinbox.com and its pages. Government and other third-party sites linked from HK FinBox have their own privacy policies, and we do not control their data practices.
Calculator data
Calculator inputs and results are primarily processed in your browser and do not require an account. We do not intentionally transmit amounts, income, age or other information entered into calculator forms to our own database.
Browser storage
Some tools use localStorage or similar browser features to retain inputs, preferences or scenarios on your device so that you can continue after reloading a page. Your browser controls this data. You can use a tool’s reset function or clear site data in your browser settings.
Automatically collected technical data
Hosting, content delivery or security services may automatically process IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, timestamps, errors and performance information. This helps deliver the site, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems and maintain security.
Cookies and site storage
HK FinBox does not currently use advertising cookies, personalised advertising or third-party analytics that require user consent. Some tools use browser storage for essential functions. That data stays on your device and can be cleared through your browser settings.
Consent and your choices
Because the site does not currently use those non-essential features, we do not display a consent banner that has no practical function. If we later add analytics, advertising or another third-party service that requires consent, we will update this policy first and provide the appropriate choices where required by law. Blocking local storage may prevent some tools from retaining inputs or scenarios.
Sharing, retention and international processing
We do not sell calculator form contents. Hosting, content delivery or security providers may process technical data under their own terms, and that data may be stored outside Hong Kong. Third-party retention periods are set by their policies; we aim to use only services that the site actually needs.
Children’s privacy
The site provides general financial information and is not directed specifically to children under 18. We do not knowingly ask children to submit sensitive personal information.
Security and your rights
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the site, but no internet transmission or storage method is completely secure. Subject to applicable law and the data we actually hold, you may request access, correction or deletion of personal data relating to you. Because calculator data normally remains on your device, we generally cannot access or recover it for you.
Policy changes and contact
We may update this policy when services, providers or legal requirements change and will show the latest date on this page. For a privacy question, use the contact page and avoid including identity numbers, bank account details or other sensitive information in ordinary email.
